Love is a Superpower
How many human beings do we have to see shot down before we wake up? How many dead bodies do we need to shock us into consciousness? How many human beings have to die before we acknowledge that these murders are not accidents but a continuum of the war that has been waged on Africans and indigenous people around the globe for more than two thousand years. Civilizations have been destroyed and nations have been wiped out so that one group could rule. They have not stopped but only grown more sophisticated in how they oppress. We are a global majority being oppressed by people who are less than us in every way except for their willingness to use violence and deceit as a means to dominate and destroy others. No civilized human being murders for sport. We are right to be concerned about how violence in return will impact our souls. Our knowledge of the cosmos cautions us to be careful. It is at this point that I am reminded that our battle is spiritual, and our weapons aren’t physical. We can love and defend ourselves at the same time.
