Of all the places they could have been detained, this small-town holding cell presented them with short-term protection and time for Braden to figure out their next move. He had thrown away his cell phone miles away from here and disposed of anything that could have possibly contained a tracking device. Getting Natalie to get rid of her phone was a huge effort. Getting her to strip off her jewelry required the truth. Braden briefly wondered what that admission would cost him later, however, in the moment it seemed the only way to secure her compliance. In retrospect, it created another problem that he would have to solve in the future. His thoughts quickly turned back to the problem at hand, getting them out of danger.
