Dickey Davis
INT. CHURCH - DAY
Present day. Small town, USA.
Inside a lavish church, a funeral procession is just beginning. An ornate casket is carried in by pallbearers who are dressed like Cinderella’s horsemen. At the front of the church, a large photo of the DECEASED dressed in a football jersey sits on an easel. The deceased’s family, dressed either in their Sunday best or T-shirts with the deceased’s picture on it, immediately follow behind the casket. Many of them cry and wail. They file in and sit on each side of the church. Each side is perfectly coordinated. TATI, Dickey’s wife, sits at the end of the first pew of the right. THE MAN IN THE HAT AND SUIT sits near the aisle on the very last pew.
This is no ordinary funeral. Directed by the flamboyant, charismatic REVEREND DICKEY DAVIS, popular pastor and owner of the Charity Arms Funeral Home. He is known for directing some of the most extravagant and over the top funerals anyone has ever seen.
As everyone sits down, we focus front and center on the Rev. Dickey Davis in the pulpit. Dickey officiates the ceremony with a full mass CHOIR behind him. He holds his signature gold trimmed cane and uses it to direct the choir. The choir sings an old hymn.
With precision, the pallbearers march to their seats and the choir sits down. Dickey directs the choir to stop singing. They take their seats. Dickey leans into the mic.
