I AM NOT YOUR ENEMY!

I Am Not Your Enemy
But you keep treating me like one
I come to you with needs
And you treat them like accusations
Erecting arguments instead of providing answers
Intent on maintaining this veil of secrecy
Deflection is your standard defense
Leveling charges that look like red flags
A tried and true tactic
To halt my advance
Does this mean I'm getting close?
You address me from your high horse
And cast Judgement down like stones
I change course to get a better view
I see you too, Masked in righteousness
Clothed in hypocrisy
Shielded from your own view
The measure you use will be measured back to you
I wave a white flag to let you know that I come in peace
But I also come with a warning sign
What you demand you must also give
The closer I get the more carefully I tread
There are mines everywhere
I have no weapons
I voluntarily shed them long ago
To show you that I Am Not Your Enemy
But I’m starting to wonder if you are mine
