Meryl awoke with thoughts of the next day swirling in her head. She turned to find Will fast asleep. She took a moment to admire his handsome silhouette. Her lips curled as she smiled to herself. The way he lay amused her. He never looked quite comfortable but the heaviness of his breathe betrayed the soundness of his slumber. The moonlight seeped through the dark paneled blinds and outlined his broad shoulders which brought back thoughts of concern. She bowed her head and said a prayer on his behalf, “Dear God, please take care of him for me. In your hands, I have no worry or fear.” Relieved, she turned over and closed her eyes. Not long after she fell asleep, they gravitated towards each other’s warmth as was their habit. Instinctively, they assumed their positions, bodies pressed lovingly together, his hand around her waist, her head finding comfort in his arms. This was their nightly custom, a natural manifestation of their deep need to be caught up in the other’s embrace.
